Burton's Use of Lighting
Bottom/Side Lighting
This lighting makes the actor/character seem evil or dangerous.
"Lights. Camera. Action." Three words that almost every director use. Tim Burton is a master at including the cinematic technique of lighting in his films. There are four sub-lighting versions: high key, low key, front/back, and bottom/side lighting. High key lighting is when the scene is flooded with light; creating a bright and open looking scene. Low key lighting is when the scene is filled with shadows and darkness; creating suspense and suspicion. Front/ back lighting makes an actor/ character seem innocent and nice. Bottom/side lighting makes the actor/ character seem evil.
